The year of playing carbon removal defense
In 2025, the carbon removal field faced an identity crisis: what does climate action look like when it’s but an afterthought in Washington? While facing major political shifts and a challenging federal policy landscape, we protected a decade worth of policy progress. Carbon180’s investment in diverse pathways to scalable carbon removal, forging and maintaining bipartisan relationships, and focusing on community engagement and local engagement proved more durable than the political moment.
